What is a Small Group?
There are currently about 40 small groups at Shepherd of the Lakes. Most groups meet in member homes. Frequency of meetings ranges from once a month to weekly. Groups vary in number from 6 to 20. All are led by a trained facilitator. Small groups typically form around common bonds, such as marital status, age, ministry, task, personal need, etc. Groups choose study materials that meet the interests of the group.
The purpose of Small Groups at Shepherd of the Lakes is to:
-Study God's Word and grow in faith and understanding
-Care for and support one another
-Pray for and with one another
-Have wholesome fellowship together
-Serve Christ and others
Why Join a Small Group?
As a large church it is important that we can also become small, loving and serving one another. A small group provides a valuable support network of like-minded believers and makes the church feel like a family. It's so easy to get lost and be anonymous, but Christ tells us we're all important. A small group is a successful way of incorporating us into the family of Christ at Shepherd of the Lakes.
